DSGW Healthcare Leader to Speak at 2014 ASHE PDC Summit

Have you wondered how activities that happen at a nurse station for inpatient and outpatient settings drive the codes for design? New codes and standards are being developed, and DSGW’s Rebecca Lewis is one of the co-authors of the future guidelines. She will present at the PDC Summit, which will be held March 16-19 in Orlando, Fla., is sponsored by the American Society for Healthcare Engineering (ASHE) and the American Hospital Association (AHA).

The Codes and Standards Forum will provide a deep dive on the codes and standards that regulate nurse station design, including furnishings. The presenters will analyze how staff members actually use nurse stations in both inpatient and outpatient settings and identify conflicts between activities conducted at the nurse station and current code requirements. The forum will include discussion of how to resolve these conflicts in future published codes and standards.
