At the 2018 AIA Conference on Architecture in New York this year, DSGW Healthcare Principals, Rebecca Lewis and Ryan Turner, will be presenting on the positive impacts that healthcare projects have in rural communities. The presentation is titled “Rural Healthcare Projects: A Community Wellness Stimulus Package.”
Healthcare projects have positive impacts on community health, economic stimulation, and patient care. Our goal of the presentation is to provide information on learning how to structure your rural healthcare project to include programming and planning engagement, community resource research, and outreach programs that result in a community wellness “stimulus package.” We believe that project’s economic ripple effects and construction strategies can be leveraged to result in improved community wellness.
Rebecca Lewis, FAIA, FACHA, CID, is a principal and Healthcare Design Studio Director. She specializes in rural healthcare design and participates at a national level to help create the FGI Healthcare Guidelines, representing a unique population in healthcare design.
Ryan Turner, AIA, LEED AP, EDAC, also a principal and leader in our Healthcare Design Studio. He focused on bringing informed evidence based design principles to our rural healthcare clients so they can stay up-to-date on the latest trends and technologies.
