The City of Two Harbors is making a big move to better serve both residents and visitors. The Municipal Liquor Store is relocating to a new, conveniently situated space designed to handle increased traffic flow and enhance accessibility.

This larger site caters specifically to the needs of the community. Delivery trucks, campers, and vehicles towing boats will find ample parking, while the circular lot eliminates the need for larger vehicles to maneuver in reverse.

Pulling design inspiration from the iron docks, the building’s exterior pays tribute to the area’s natural beauty and rich industrial heritage. Reminiscent of a train station, the facade incorporates taconite stone, a nod to the material that helped build Two Harbors.

Sustainability is also a key focus. The building boasts an improved thermal envelope for energy efficiency, and the parking lot adheres to “dark sky” principles to minimize light pollution. Additionally, the project ensured all necessary tree removal occurred outside the Long-Eared Bat mating season, demonstrating the city’s commitment to environmental responsibility.
