Grand Portage Lodge and Casino underwent a three-phase renovation and expansion. The project includes remodeled guest rooms, a revitalization of the restaurant and lounge, with a new casino, lobby, swimming pool and event center, all while the building stayed in full operation.

Throughout the facility, DSGW utilized design features and finishes to create a fun, open atmosphere. The casino floor doubled in size to hold 600 gaming machines and four table games, the new event center accommodates over 300 people. Dramatic ceiling treatments, colorful decorative floral bead patterns and beautifully designed custom carpet pay tribute to Grand Portage culture with a contemporary flair and compliments the three-story atrium in the lobby with expansive views of Lake Superior.

The drop off canopy can accommodate busses and is made of timber, reflecting an element of the northwoods.

The floral motif guides the visitor throughout the amenity spaces.

The addition was built around the grand original bluestone fireplace.

Wood slating was used to connect the outside to the addition with large windows bringing in the daylight.

The floral pattern was repeated throughout the casino as seen in the fixtures and custom carpet.

The show-stopping light fixture in the casino features an 11 ft flower and 5 ft leaf design.

The carpet was custom designed with the Grand Portage Tribal colors and the floral pattern

Locally sourced bluestone used throughout the exterior of the building.

Indoor pool, sauna, and hot tub area with capacity for 158 provides and added amenity for resort guests.

The Convention Center/Banquet Hall has capacity for up to 317 or the dividing patrician can be used for a more intimate space.

Large 2-story space was removed and the space replaced with a grand atrium fitting together the 2 wings.

Custom details and finishings in all of the guest rooms.

Every room in the resort was updated and given a fresh look.

The bar and restaurant were redesigned with an opened space between allowing for daylight..

Exterior decks overlook the peaceful lake.

Backlit iridescent floral motif panel taken from the Grand Portage logo is reminiscent of Tribal beadwork.
