As gaming in the region became more competitive, The Sky Dancer Resort and Casino felt the need to “up the ante” with a renovation and addition to their current facility. The existing campus is an assortment of multiple additions built around a two-story hotel.
An increase in gaming opportunities, more hotel rooms and much improved guest amenities were the goals for the 120,000 sf addition and 33,000 sf renovation. The improved gaming floor offers 820 slot machines, 10 table games, six poker tables and simulcast as well as bingo. The six-story, 100-room hotel addition increases the total number of room to 197.
A 75-seat steak house, 150-seat buffet and snack bar are all family friendly and offer guests choices, from convenience food to fine dining, while incorporating attractive theme design. A 31-seat bar is the focal point in the center of the casino. The existing casino was renovated into an events center, capable of seating 1,500 for concert events or can be sub-divided into two separate spaces for conventions.
The combination of active lighting and a unique architectural element upon the hotel tower provides a powerful visual beacon. When entering the reorganized campus, guests approach an expressive entry canopy inspired by a traditional pow-wow dancer’s fan. The hotel tower mimics the glow of the Northern Lights, a prevalent phenomenon in the area in which the property is named for – Sky Dancer.
