The Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe is embarking on a project to enhance the delivery of essential services to its community through the development of a comprehensive Tribal Services Center. This ambitious undertaking aims to consolidate numerous previously separate tribal service departments into a unified, state-of-the-art facility, fostering greater efficiency and accessibility for tribal members.

Beyond its functional role as a service hub, the facility will also serve as a cultural and civic center. A walkthrough museum will provide visitors with an immersive experience into the rich history and heritage of the Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe, while a council chamber, capable of accommodating 100, will facilitate tribal governance. Each of the building’s four wings will feature shared conference spaces. The facility will prioritize the well-being of its occupants by providing two well-appointed breakrooms and a mothers’ room on each of its two floors.

Upon entering the building through the grand lobby, visitors will be greeted by a dedicated reception area. The first floor will also feature a coffee shop and a gift shop, offering refreshment and cultural appreciation. On the second floor, gathering nooks provide comfortable and informal spaces for collaboration and impromptu meetings, fostering a sense of community and shared purpose among staff members.

Reflecting the Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe’s deep commitment to environmental stewardship, the building’s design incorporates cutting-edge sustainable features. Utilizing a comprehensive approach that includes a solar ray field on the roof to generate renewable energy, a geothermal system to regulate heating and cooling, and Insulated Concrete Form (ICF) walls for 60% of the building’s construction, ensuring superior thermal performance and energy efficiency.
