Scope:

Master Planning Architecture Interior Design

Based on a new patient centered model, the St. Luke’s Chequamegon Clinic allows for a high level of customer familiarity, identification and ease for the Ashland community. The new model dictates a level site from the entry of the driver to the front door for the patient. Once inside, therapy services and additional patient care are located close to the front door for the best patient access. This type of layout required a new building footprint rather than the old medical care patterns of the past. The facility was designed with future services in mind, which include enhanced and expanded diagnostic services, urgent care/walk in care options and overall facility/service line expansion.

The materials, colors and forms fits into the culture of the city of Ashland, WI.

The site is interconnected with the cities trail system.

The entrance leads visitors to the clinic or large community room for public use.

Lake Superior's form in captured in etched metal and displayed on the copper tile wall behind the reception desk.

The curved ceiling form provides visual wayfinding and aesthetics to the reception area.

Configured for easy wayfinding, the radiology department and lab are located right off the main spine of the clinic.

The hallways and door dimensions are set up to accommodate patients of all abilities.

The height and width of the canopy is able to accommodate an ambulance for picking up patients.

Every exam room is identical and meticulously laid out for safety and efficiency.

The physical rehab room is lined with windows providing patients a breathtaking view of the lake for distraction.

Special foundation systems had to used, as the site once housed a wood products plant.
