Located near the south shore of Lake Superior, the Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Chippewa is experiencing a strong population growth as young tribal members and families return home from regional towns and cities. The existing tribal clinic lacked both privacy and the facilities ability to serve the growing population, many of whom were accustomed to modern care facilities in larger cities.

DSGW worked with citizens to design a the Red Cliff Community Health Center, that could welcome and reintroduce returning members to the community. The tribal clinic is designed to celebrate place, landscape and culture. DSGW also worked with Indian Health Services and the Government Services Division that help manage the clinic.

This clinic is one of the few tribal clinics open to everyone from the area, including the tourists who visit this area of Lake Superior. In coming, they have a chance to learn more about the Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Chippewa community as it continues to grow and change.
