The community driven wellness expansion to the Lac Vieux Desert Health Center is bringing much needed services to the community while also creating much-needed space within the main Health Center for growing general healthcare needs.
The expansion thoughtfully incorporates cultural design elements established during DSGW’s initial partnership with Lac Vieux Desert in 2016, now with a modern interpretation. Notably, the expansion is being built in an area specifically designated for future growth in the original 2016 plans.
Inside, the new facility offers a wide array of amenities. Staff and patients will utilize the existing and familiar patient check in and waiting areas to seamlessly connect to the patient centered medical home model. Design for afterhours access to the wellness center required careful planning in consideration of the facility and staff safety. The space features abundant exercise and strength training equipment, with treadmills strategically placed to offer users expansive exterior views and beneficial natural light. Chiropractic and Physical Therapy services have relocated to the expansion, gaining three new physical therapy rooms, two chiropractic rooms, and a large shared space. Additionally, a massage room, two flexible treatment rooms, and a sauna complete the wellness offerings.
For staff, the expansion includes four private offices, each with windows to maintain the wellness theme, and a spacious break room/conference room that will be shared with the main Health Center. This shared space features adaptive seating for various uses.
