In a spirit of collaboration and a commitment to improving the health and well-being of the Seven Affiliated Tribes of the Commonwealth of Virginia, DSGW partnered with the Nashville Area Indian Health Services and the Monacan Tribe to establish a state-of-the-art healthcare clinic. This new facility offers a comprehensive suite of services designed to meet the diverse needs of the Tribal communities.
Beyond providing essential medical care, the clinic serves as a vital hub for holistic wellness. A wide array of services are available, including primary care, advanced diagnostic imaging, and comprehensive dental care. Recognizing the interconnectedness of physical and mental health, the clinic also offers vital behavioral health counseling services, providing much-needed support for individuals and families. Furthermore, the clinic plays an active role in promoting community health through engaging health education programs and impactful public health initiatives.
The design of the clinic itself is a testament to the deep respect for the rich cultural heritage of the Tribes. Copper, a material imbued with profound cultural significance for the Tribal communities, is thoughtfully integrated throughout the facility, adding a touch of warmth and authenticity. The flooring, a captivating tapestry of intricate patterns, echoes the artistry of traditional basket weaving. Inspired by the natural beauty of cedar, the grace of feathers, and the timeless elegance of chevrons, these designs serve as a poignant reminder of the deep connection between the Tribes and their ancestral traditions.
