With a growing population and the need for access to more head start services – the new Omak Tribal Head Start brings early childhood learning to the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation.
The secure facility features four classroom pods for children from early childhood rooms for infants to immersion classrooms for up to 12-year-olds. Each classroom is well-equipped with a bathroom, a separate hand-washing sink, and an art sink. There are plenty of office spaces with abundant storage for staff and educator convenience. A commercial-grade kitchen supports all food service needs, complemented by a versatile, spacious area perfect for meals and a wide range of physical and educational activities. The design and all the materials were selected for maintenance, ease of cleaning, and staff usability. A neutral color scheme was incorporated to give educators the flexibility to personalize their learning environments.
The exterior elements were chosen with input from the Tribe to reflect the traditions and views of the area. The site allows for vehicle and bus separation for safe pickup and drop off sequence.
