Myers Wilkins Elementary School is the new home of consolidated Nettleton Elementary and Grant Elementary as part of the Duluth School District Long Range Facility Plan. The site was chosen for access to green spaces and ability to purchase land, which allowed for reconfiguring the bus and public traffic flow to the building.
The reconfiguration of 57,000 sf of existing space provides more classrooms to meet Minnesota Department of Education standards and additional square footage for special education and early childhood programs. The three-story school includes classrooms, a new gymnasium, cafetorium and media center. It also allows for safer access to adjacent green spaces.
Myers Wilkins is the home of a unique program known as the Grant Collaborative, which provides after-school and summer programming.
